Dr. James B. Chen is a highly skilled, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee total joint replacement. Dr. Chen graduated cum laude from California Polytechnic State University with his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology before attending the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where he received numerous awards including the role of president of the Alpha Omega Alpha society. He stayed at UCLA for his Orthopedic Surgery residency where he gained recognition as consultant of the year and was elected Chief Resident during his final year. Following residency, he completed his subspecialty training at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) which has been ranked the #1 Orthopedic Hospital in the nation by US News and World Report for 12 consecutive years and #1 in the world by Newsweek. At HSS, Dr. Chen had the opportunity to work with many world-renowned specialists in hip and knee reconstruction and was awarded the fellowship Clinical Excellence Award for his clinical and surgical performance.
